What is Wiley? Wiley is a scholarly publisher.

What journals does Wiley publish? Wiley publishes journals in fields across the sciences, social sciences, humanities, and arts.

How does the UA-Wiley agreement benefit authors? The article processing charge (APC) is covered 100% for a select list of hybrid and fully open access (a.k.a., Gold) journals. 

Is funding guaranteed? Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee funding. Our agreement with the publisher provides a set number of publishing charge credits, which we offer to authors on a first-come-first-served basis.

            For hybrid journals (i.e., journals including a mixture of open access articles and articles behind a pay wall), an author requests a publishing charge waiver through the publisher’s system when the journal accepts the article for publication. If the request is approved, funding is confirmed.

            For OA gold journals (i.e., journals that publish only open access articles), an author requests a publishing charge waiver through the publisher’s system when the manuscript is submitted for peer review. If the request is approved, funding is conditional. It will be confirmed – or denied – when the journal accepts the article for publication.

Which journals are covered by the agreement? A select number of hybrid and fully open access (a.k.a., Gold) are covered. Please consult the two lists below.

Who is eligible? The primary corresponding author for the article must be a current employee or student at the University of Arkansas Fayetteville; they may be a faculty member, staff member, student, or postdoc. They should use their uark.edu email address.

Are there any requirements or restrictions? The authors must assign the article a Creative Commons license. The acceptable licenses are CC-BY, CC-BY-NC, and CC-BY-NC-ND. For more information about Creative Commons licenses, visit the Creative Commons Licenses Library Guide.

How can an author apply? The author should follow the instructions found at the bottom of the Wiley author instructions page. Please note that the process for participating in this program differs for fully open access journals (a.k.a., Gold) and hybrid journals.

Additional tips: The primary corresponding author should be the person who submits the article through the Wiley system; they should use their uark.edu email address.
